Staatsolie carries out a variety of social projects, ranging from large to small. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life, particularly in the communities where we are active. We are pleased to share an overview of some of the completed projects.
The Natural Technical Institute (NATIN) inaugurated a fully renovated building on its school complex. The renovation was made possible through a donation from Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. and partners TotalEnergies, Capricorn, Chevron, QatarEnergy, and Decker Petroleum.
Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., through the Staatsolie Foundation for Community Development, has made a significant contribution to improve healthcare in Suriname.
A clean and safe learning environment is a basic right for every child and essential for their development. Unfortunately, the restroom facilities at these five schools were in very poor condition. By investing in the renovation of these restrooms, we aim to contribute to a healthier and more stimulating learning environment.
Staatsolie’s "Helping Hands" program has been established to support the growing needs of the Surinamese community. This initiative encourages our employees to actively participate in volunteer projects, using their time, knowledge, and skills for projects that have a lasting impact.
O.S. Skroetjieweg now has a care classroom, a renovated building, and a refurbished playground. These improvements will significantly enhance student achievement and well-being.
VOS Tamanredjo has undergone significant upgrades. The renovations included essential repairs to the septic tank and the roof of the ICT building, allowing students to resume their ICT lessons in a fully functional environment.
With a USD 50,000.00 contribution from Staatsolie, the "Senior Complex Nickerie" has been successfully completed. This project provides living facilities for seniors in Nickerie who cannot live independently or need temporary accommodation. The complex also supports women in distress and contributes to the community by promoting safe housing and social interaction.
The "Giving Back to the Community Campaign" is an important initiative celebrating the 10th anniversary of GOw2, highlighting the value of community and social responsibility. Throughout this campaign, we approached 10 foundations within a 1 km radius around our station for potential renovation projects that would have a direct impact on the community.
The restroom facilities at OS Majosteeg, OS Tammenga, St. Lidwinaschool, St. Herman Jozefschool were severely outdated and in poor condition. To improve hygiene and the well-being of students and staff, we have fully renovated and delivered these restroom groups. This initiative ensures a safer and healthier learning environment for the school communities.
Staatsolie donates advanced laser devices to the AZP for the treatment of glaucoma and diabetes, two major causes of blindness in Suriname.
Staatsolie has allocated $150,000 for the renovation of three schools in Commewijne and Marowijne to contribute to an improved learning environment and high-quality education for the students.
